I'm Back!

Or am I?

I've been reading the posts on this blog and it's weird to think that the ones from May 2006 onwards were written while my husband and my ex-friend and colleague had started sleeping together. I say weird because I remember those months being nasty (I hadn't found out but I felt something was wrong) yet I don't show it in the posts.

So sad to think back.

I still want to kill that bloody spotty-faced person who slept with my husband and pretended she was still my friend. That retard who hugged me and told me she wanted me to be happy. Geeez.

Shut Up, Already!

Shutupbook These days I either have nothing to say here, or I have no time to say it, or I'd rather not say it.

The truth is I've been thinking of killing off this blog. I suspect the only reason I'm keeping it is because it comes, as part of a package deal, with limitless photo albums and I am too lazy to transfer my pics to another (free) online facility.

The solution is simple enough. I'm keeping the package and putting My Big Mouth (the blog) to rest. My actual big mouth will still be available to anyone who cares to tune in to it. It will continue to shoot off at regular intervals throughout most days.

If you're reading this, you have my phone number.

If, because of some oversight, you do not, it's 012-2723678.

Keep in touch!

Thank Heaven For Little Girls

Sisters_1This picture makes me think of I-Shan. The artist Akiko Hayashi is a picture book illustrator and I believe this is from Finding Little Sister.

Hayashi is a genius when it comes to portraying little girls. I love my little boys, but I've always wanted a daughter and so I-Shan fills me with special delight. So sue me! After all, most fathers would make no bones about wanting sons!

Lite Touch

DsliteThe Nintendo DS Lite ... so pretty, I want one. It's going to be Elesh's 9th birthday present (from his godmother and me) ... if he manages to learn his times tables (1 to 12) by the end of August.

If not, I guess his godmother (Jenny) and I will just have to learn to use it ourselves. Oh, the pain ... ;-)

Since my Last Post ...

I have been working my arse off (believe it or not!).

This week has been super busy.

I had three assignments:

On Tuesday night, a musical about Vietnamese refugees. It was horrible, horrible, horrible. I still can't believe how bad it was.

On Thursday morning, I checked out Caterpillar, a cafe for children. There's also a studio where they hold workshops for children and babies. The food (I tasted some chicken nuggets and three different types of cookies) is delicious. I am going to take I-Shan there soon because the music and movement class for babies looked fun.

Dscf6657a_1 This morning (Friday) I went to interview the producer and director of a new Malaysian movie called Remp-It. It's about illegal motorbike racing and is, apparently, quite racy. The Malay papers and The Malay Mail are all abuzz about the sexy scenes, but the producer insists he's kept to the guidelines. I should probably go watch it myself.

While I was at his office, the producer, David Teo, blew up when he discovered that The Malay Mail article had quoted him saying that he hoped the censorship board would "close one eye" and pass the film. According to Teo, he hadn't even been interviewed. He started snorting and stamping and threatening to sue.

It was all rather interesting.

I'm looking forward to the weekend. I'm on leave Monday and Tuesday as it's Elesh's birthday on the 15th. Hopefully, I will get to fit in some naps and coffee breaks.

Picture Book

I have a folder on my p.c devoted to pictures of women reading (googled). Here's one of my favourites. I love the use of colour - vibrant shades combined with more restful tints. Oh, how I long to be somewhere quiet with a good book open in my hand!

Toy Story

I came upon a link, on the Read Roger blog, to a story about how girls enjoy torturing their Barbie dolls. It seems that the dolls get their heads popped off or they get burnt, broken and even microwaved!

Well, I admit to sometimes using Squirrel Nutkin as a volleyball and I admit that Madison, Nolee and Barbie (rechristened Janferie, Su Shan and Magda) are currently lying buck naked in I-Shan's playpen but I would never actively ill-treat my dollies.

I did shave Buttercookie (my Cabbage Patch doll), but that was because her top-knot kept stabbing Elesh in the eye (when he was a baby).

Oh ... OK, I confess that I once taped a colleague's Winnie the Pooh to the ceiling and accused him of being high on something. I hastened to add that it was an imitation Pooh. In fact it was a double sham Pooh (ha-ha, geddit?), being a fake of the even faker Disney version. So he deserved everything he got. I shuld have shaved him too!

Don't Cha? Don't Cha?

Meow I've been listening to The Pussycat Dolls for the last two hours. They're great!

Edward and I are going to revive Gomez & Lee (which was what we were when we started singing together) and we're going to cover PCD's Don't Cha - with Edward singing lead in the chorus. Seriously. It's going to be great.

And I think we should splice it with the bridge in Beep.

Cough-Free At Last

I'm not working today but here I am in the office anyway - at 9pm! Don't ask!

Things are looking up though.

My cough is all gone and the thought of the book festival is no longer causing me to break out in cold sweat. Thank goodness for clever and capable friends. And Vicks Vaporub.

I am now going to go home to Frederica by Georgette Heyer.

Good night!
