Yeah, Times was a total disappointment last year. I told my mum to pick me up two hours after she dropped me off, and BOY did I regret it. I was finally forced to buy Soul Mountain, 'forced' because of the lack of choice. Not that I had anything against Soul Mountain, but generally I was hoping for some cheap classics paperbacks. There was one warehouse sale by Times a few years back where I got four classics (those yellow-cover-paperback ones by Penguin) for RM 10. Hoping for a repeat of it this year!

I have noticed hypermarkets having these 'bargain bins' selling mostly Penguin titles. They're mostly RM9.95 though, even for those really slim titles. However, the selection is really eclectic and one have to rummage through the whole pile before finding anything remotely worth buying. Sometimes you stumble across a really good bargain like Artemis Fowl for RM10 and other times, all you get are dusty hands.
So does this means the glory days of Penguin sales are over definately?

This year's MPH warehouse sale was quite good. The books were mostly mainstream bestsellers at about two thirds of the normal price so I thought it was quite a good bargain. But Penguin, I think remains undisputed as the BEST warehouse sale to go to. Unfortunately there wasn't any last year right? I constantly keep a look out for it in the newspapers and didn't spot anything. Times sale last year was a total dissapointment for me. So does anybody know when is the next Penguin sale?

Hi Elizabeth
I take it you're talking abt the Penguin sales that happened about 18 months ago? I've been told that they're not going to happen anymore, but I've noticed that the books that were available at those sales are being sold for RM6 and up at hypermarkets like carrefour, Giant and Tesco. Happy hunting!

Any idea when penguin is having their book sale? I find MPH as having one of the worst 'warehouse' sales ever, while Times have quite good books, going to Penguin book sales is like heaven!
