Yesterday I spent RM39 on books at a charity bazaar held near my office. I bought 10 books, most just cost RM1.
This is what I got:
1. Evergreen by Belva Plain
I loved this book when I was a teen. I call it a superior version of A Woman of Substance ... but not that superior! ;-) It's a guilty pleasure. I do like a bit of trash in my life! :-)
2. Tom Brown's School Days by Thomas Hughes
I've wanted to read this for ages and now I have no excuses.
3. Swan Feather by Lorna Hill
Kwan kindly gave me her Lorna Hills (bless her!) and now I've got another to add to the collection - yay!!
4. Ella at the Wells by Lorna Hill
Ditto
5. Emily of New Moon by L.M. Montgomery
I have the Anne books so I'm looking forward to Emily.
6. Emily Climbs by L.M. Montgomery
Ditto
7. Emily's Quest by L.M. Montgomery
Ditto
8. Art for Children: Henri Toulouse Lautrec
Cool. One of my favourite artists.
9. Art for Children: Raphael
Ditto.
10. 100 Celebrated Chinese Women
Martin said: "Who? Michell Yeo?" It's women from ancient China which I thought was interesting. It's time I learnt more about all things Chinese, considering that's what I am.
11. The Complete Tales of Beatrix Potter
This is was an almost-new hardback. I paid just RM10!
It seems that no sooner do I make more space on my shelves that I find more books to fill it up again. Help! ;-)
lucky you to find those books. I bought my emily books at full price from canada.

Hi Kwan! Yes, of course you can borrow whatever you want. BTW, I read and enjoyed Husband Hunters ;-) Also the Gemmas.
Hi Bex, It's pure luck, me finding these cheap buys. I was considering not going for this recent sale but I'm glad I dragged my butt there.

Congrats on your finds! Envy envy that you found a book sale that turned out such gems...though I'm not collecting Lorna Hill, do like to read them. So am making a requst to borrow your two latest Hill acquisitions. Also 100 Celebrated Chinese Women...always had a fascination for China's legendary beauties and heroic females, and a couple of femme fatale sort. BTW, Lautrec's also my favourite artist; have a tea towel with a print of the Moulin Rouge (one of his better known prints) bought in Paris yonks ago...brings back the memories...
