Happy Christmas everyone!
I'm posting this week's poem a day early for obvious reasons. It doesn't reflect the way I feel about the holiday, but I think it's meaningful if you see Christmas as a religious celebration.
Continue reading Greetings.
I found this picture on Google. I like it better than those in which Mary and Jesus are blonde and blue-eyed. When I was little and a good, practising Catholic, I had a huge collection of pictures, cards and bookmarks depicting the Holy family. My favourites were the ones in which Jesus was a jolly-looking baby. I didn't like the ones in which he looked solemn and adult.
Christmastide
Love came down at Christmas
Love all lovely, Love Divine;
Love was born at Christmas,
Star and angels gave the sign.
Worship we the Godhead,
Love incarnate, Love Divine;
Worship we our Jesus:
But wherewith for sacred sign?
Love shall be our token,
Love be yours and love be mine,
Love to God and all men,
Love for plea and gift and sign.
