I do apologise for not blogging more regularly. Obviously I'm having problems juggling all the various aspects of my life.
Well, at least I'm still finding time to read so it's not all bad.
I stayed up all night this Saturday past finishing The Amber Spyglass. Was done, finally, at 5 on Sunday morning and then slept til nearly 11 much to Martin's irritation.
Later that afternoon I dragged myself out of the house despite a raging headache and found my way to Amcorp Mall and Payless Books where I picked up a couple of nice picture books: a version of Cinderella, beautifully illustrated by Marcia Brown (Click here to see the cover on Amazon.) and a reproduction of an antique book with "revolving" pictures, i.e. circular coloured plates with tabs attached - you pull the tab from left to right and back again and the pictures change. Very pretty.
I also found Mapp and Lucia by E. F. Benson. It's one of series of novels about a group of frightful snobs in an English village.I now have four of the six books. At least I hope there are just six books!
M&L is so delicious that I'm afraid Carol Shields's Jane Austen has been left languishing on my bedside table. As for The Orange Girl, it's my current "book for breakfast" so progress is slow.
I hope to post a mini review soonish. I should really post one a week - at least. Ah ... well, the best laid plans and all that ...
