I've chosen to once again feature the illustrator and writer Edward Ardizzone, this time his work in The Witch Family by Eleanor Estes.

Chapter 2, pg 19: Little Witch Girl: One day, Old witch was rocking in her wicker rocker in the creaky front porch of the witch house. She was not happy and she was brooding.
Chapter 6, pg 53: In a "Haunched House": Recovering from their astonishment, all the little witches fluttered around Amy and Clarissa.
Chapter 8, pg 79: The Baby Witch: "Abracadabra / Cadabra cadee / C B A and A B C / Flying through the air to We / Fiddly, Widdly Biddly Bee / Here's a weeny witchie just for She!"
Chapter 10, pg 93: Danger in the Painting Field: Meanwhile, in the painting field, Old Witch laughed her "heh-hehs" and "he-he-hes" while swooping here and there, picking up egg after egg (rocks) and ravenously swallowing them whole, eating them as appetizers for the real feast to come - rabbits!
Chapter 11, pg 100: The Picnic at the Mermaid Lagoon:"How beautiful it is in here!" said the little witch girl.
Chapter 13, pg 118: The Great Night at Last: "May I go dowm tonight?" asked the little witch girl. "please, please, please say yes. I'd love to be seen on my broomstick in the light of the moon."
Chapter 17, pg 147: Malachi, to the Rescue: The witches then entered into frightening backanallies. And, one, two, three, stomp!
