IT seems that Coraline, the movie, may not be released in Malaysian cinemas. If it does hit our cinemas, Yahoo! Movies says it won't be until August. That's a long time to wait considering that it was released in the States in February this year.
Why the delay? Heaven only knows. Perhaps the distributors are just buying time while they try to figure out what to do with this movie. They are probably confused as to who the target audience is. Fans of fantasy fiction? Animated movie aficionados? Children? Neil Gaiman groupies? All of the above? It's very likely that they don't think it's going to make much money in Malaysia and, hopefully, the handful of people who want it to be shown here, will just forget all about it come August.
I think we will just have to wait for the DVD. In the meantime, if you haven't already, check out the graphic novel (Bloombury, 192 pages, ISBN: 978-0747594062).
